I purchased a smaller version of this netbook from Amazon and it lasted for 3 weeks before the hard drive crashed. Luckily Amazon picked it right up, but then I saw they had THIS model on sale, so I thought I’d give Acer another shot. BAD MISTAKE. It never worked out of the box. After 4 calls to the poor English speaking tech support people, and 6 attempts to reload the software, they finally sent me real CD’s. After an hour with yet another tech support person, it was determined that there was a hardware issue and that I was going to have to return it to the factory for repair…get this: AT MY EXPENSE! I tried explaining to the guy that it’s brand new, why should I have to pay to ship it back to get it repaired? “That is Acer’s policy” I was told. I asked for a supervisor and waited on hold for nearly an hour and gave up. So they wasted at least 5 hours of my time, and two weeks waiting for a response for a netbook that never worked right from the factory. Burn me once, OK…but me twice and I won’t do business with you ever again.

I tried many times to create DVD back up after first time of run but when I attached external DVD writer (HP Pavilion DV2-1030US 12.1-Inch Laptop)notebook started to “install new hardware” and stopped without completing it, again and again… When i inserted a DVD to it nothing again. Its may be due to low power on USB port of notebook because when I attached the DVD writer to USB HUB finally I got my back up DVD’s(two DVD). In the other hand you can not work with notebook and DVD player or writer in ambulatory status and you have to use a USB HUB attached to power outlet.

I received my “new” Acer computer from Amazon yesterday. The delivery time was the only positive thing I would give this. I turned the machine on and found out that it was registered to another person — something Zhong in Washington, with a password already in there. I called Acer’s technical support (was given the runaround — about 5 different numbers to call, each one referring me to another number), and rude, rude people who I could not understand. (I have nothing against this, but when I asked for a supervisor, he was mysteriously on another call for 10 minutes).
Finally I did get someone who told me how to reset the computer back to factory conditions (which it should have been, since I bought it “new” supposedly). He said that they may have sent me a refurbished computer by mistake (duh!). So finally that mess was cleared up.
However, getting onto the internet is a real drag. I mean, a REAL DRAG! It is so slow! I use the same line (Comcast) for all of my computers with no problem, quick, zippy, etc. My daughter has an Asus 10 inch that zips right online. I knew I should have gotten one of those instead! But this Acer is horrible. I dont even give it one star. It doesn’t even deserve star dust.

This is the computer I’ve been looking for. The 10.1 inch screen is great; hard disk space is plenty large enough; and the weight is perfect for traveling. I use this for email and surfing the web – which is 95% of what I use a computer for – and it absolutely serves its purpose.

After having used several laptops and computers, finally I found a tool that fill my needs, thanks ACER for this fine companion.

This is the best electronic purchase I have ever made! It was a breeze to set up and has run flawlessly. It is so tiny (8.9″ model) that it slips right into a purse, yet the keyboard is plenty big enough to get the job done. With the built-in card reader and USB ports, I can easily transfer files as I want. I usually left my 17″ laptop at home as it was too heavy to lug around, but this little Acer will go wherever I go! I ordered another battery, and expect to have 6-7 hours of untethered work time. I highly recommend this netbook!

This is the item with the more low price, and the hardware is very good, and prety

Let me start by saying that you should make sure a netbook is right for you before you make this purchase. Once you’ve decided to go with a netbook over a notebook–this one is perfect!
From the ones I tried out in the big box stores, Acer has the biggest keyboard unless you go with a solid state hard drive. That being said, the keyboard will take a day or two to get used to–but it happens fast.
The battery life is between 2-3 hours. The power cord is small enough that it is easy to pack along with you, if you need to.
Built-in wireless card has no problems picking up signals.
All-in-all, this netbook is exactly what I needed. And it’s the same size as a normal hardback book, so it’s very easy to take anywhere. I would defiantly recommend it

I love this little laptop. It easily fits in a purse or bag to take wherever I want. I took it on my trip to NYC & used it to log the daily events. It was so easy to use on the airplane, also.

I ordered this computer for [...]including a free upgrade to windows 7. It looks like the price has gone up to [...], but it’s still a pretty good deal for what you get. There is a new 18.4 toshiba out that may compete, but I think this is still a better value.
The screen is amazing, and the viewing angle is better than on other laptops i’ve used. Watching movies from 10-15 feet away is no problem. Using VLC player for movies, the sound is loud enough.
I ordered it on june 26th, and as soon as I received it, i tried to register for my free windows 7 upgrade through the acer website, which connects you to another website, and was told that the serial number was not valid. So i contacted acer support and was told that this computer IS eligible for a free upgrade, but the system was not registering it yet. I was told to try again in three days.
The only thing that really bothers me is that there is no windows vista disk included in the box. There is a slick utility that allows you to make restore dvd’s (3 dvd’s!!!) or just a drivers and apps dvd. But there is no way to do a clean windows install, without all the nasty bloatware (it’s really bad. equal to the worst i’ve seen) unless you borrow a visa home premium dvd from your friend and use your product key on the bottom of the computer. I made the drivers and apps dvd, downloaded windows 7 RC, did a clean install and then installed the drivers from the disk i made. the only driver that i needed that didn’t work from the disk was the intel vga driver, but i was able to download a win 7 version from the intel website. here is the link for that driver:
[...]
I also have ubuntu 8.04 installed, and it runs really well. so far everything just works. win 7 is much better than vista or xp, and ubuntu is even better.

I’ve had this laptop just over a week.
After the transfer of all my data, setting up my apps, antivirus, and further tweaking, I can honestly say I love this new lappy.
It does have it’s shortcomings, no blu-ray, no dedicated video ram (Intel shared memory on-board video), no 1080p (but for this size screen 720p is fine).
Of course the trade-off for lacking these goodies is the price, $633…WOW. Purchased a nice padded sleeve for it and killer skin (RidicsSkinz.com/forum), which covers the high gloss black (shows every fingerprint).
Purchased this on a Thursday and had it the following Tuesday with free shipping, no tax…thank you Amazon!
