  The Toshiba Satellite A355-S6925 16.0-Inch Laptop is under maintenance since 04-Apr-2009 ,after purchased on February 9, 2009 from Amazon.com order number: 103-6410839-3856257, Power failure, to now not repaired yet by local Toshiba support.

  I do a variety of freelance video and photo work.
  This laptop has the RAM and hard drive space to make it great for productions and editing on the go.
  The firewire port is especially useful for hooking up a camcorder and recording directly to the laptop, or for transferring DV tapes from the camcorder to digital format.

  The webcam and built in microphone are good for video-conferencing and impromptu video-blogging.

  This computer is a great deal for the multi-media oriented buyer!

  I’m a professional photographer and graphic designer. I run a several applicatiions at a time and process a lot of 21 megapixel images at once. This Toshiba does what I tell it to RIGHT NOW.

  You don’t know what you’re buying into until you have to deal with customer service. I found that the wireless internet feature didn’t work and with great trepidation phoned their customer service number. I got a real person I could understand and she worked towards the solution, but had to pass me along to a higher tech who patiently worked with me. He had me un-install some stuff (I’m not a techie) and re-install it again. This took time, and he asked if he could call me back when it was done. He phoned back moments after the process finished (he must’ve set a timer) and resolved the problem. Now I know I not only have a computer which thoroughly meets my needs, but that I have customer support if I need it.

  I had problems with the laptop, it is under maintenance since 29-May-2009 ,after purchased on May 10, 2009 from Amazon.com, a blue screen appears and then it reiniziate. I am not very pleased with the toshiba support center.

  This laptop Is so great…blazing fast and you can play lots of games at decent performance…but some of the new games won’t be that great specially at high resolution ( like Crysis for instance)…..but the only problem that i find annoying is the smudgy dusty chassis…..fusion looks cool but if there’s a lot of dust in the air you have to clean your laptop almost daily….and the price dropped 50 $ 2 daYS AFTER i bought it

  final thoughts: great multitasking laptop for every day use and casual gaming… but for hardcore gamers u have to consider a higher laptop for some extra bucks

  A great all-around machine at a budget price. Doesn’t feel like a budget machine. Pros:
  - Plenty fast 2 Ghz core duo, 2 GB RAM
  - Intel graphics chipset (GMA 4500) which is 2x the speed of earlier laptop video chips from Intel, DirectX10, 720p native – snappy with Vista Aero
  - nice keyboard, good crisp key action, well laid out
  - glorious screen, bright (even under battery power) and super crisp
  - very useful multimedia controls: stop/start/FF work with Media player & DVDs, front edge volume, headphone & mic ports
  - front edge switch for wifi (on/off)

  Cons:
  - screen resolution tops at 1280×800
  - HDD only 160 GB (140 GB usable)
  - won’t play games well at max res – not a portable gaming computer
  - battery life only a couple hours (keeping that screen lit up uses a lot of power)

  If you are like me and use an external drive to sync your tunes to a MP3 player, then the HDD should be plenty large. If you demand your tunes with you, it may not be enough. Same if you need hardcore gaming in your laptop.

  I fired up Audacity and did some recording, it handled it flawlessly. I’ll be doing a lot of recording on this machine. DVDs are smooth, and Vista responds very well on this machine. USed Zune SW to play music & show a slideshow & did some surfing – handled it just fine.

  I bought this laptop from [...] they had it for [...] free shipping, could not refuse the bait, I bought an additional 4gb of kingston hyperx 800mhz ddr2, this makes a difference. I got a windows Vista rating of 3.5. The only cons for this laptop would be no bluetooth and webcam. This laptop is not for serious gamers. Windows Vista takes some getting use to, this is a first Vista laptop. I still prefer xp, lol.

  I have been looking for a fast light laptop……THIS IS IT. Great product, fingerprint scanner rocks. Everyone that picks it up is shocked how light it is. Super fast….love it

  What a great machine; It has been across the US and Europe in the two weeks since I got it and it handles everything really quickly, including large program such as Autodad. The weight is a major factor that everyone who has picked it up and tried is is amazed as to light it is, about 2.5 lbs. I carry heaviier packages of steaks from the butcher, than what this great laptop weighs. El Paso, Tx
