This is a great laptop for you everyday average user. It is great for surfing the web, email, and office work. As a "prosumer" photographer, I enjoy the memory card reader built into the front of the laptop, although I am not sure if I like its placement. The side might have been a better choice.

The flush mounted trackpad takes some getting used to and I still accidently hit it sometimes.

It is true what another reviewer said about the power plug. The design flaw is that the plug sticks out from the side of the laptop about an inch. For those who like to sit the laptop on their lap or use it on a less than solid surface, this can put pressure on the interior receptical of the plug. It eventually snaps (or appears to) out of place inside the laptop and you have to do some gentle manipulation to put it back into place.

This is the second Toshiba we have and is highly recommended for the price/value/perfomance...just be caustious about the plug.

This is a fast, complex laptop all but ruined by the Vista operating system, hard disc restoration system and very poor unwanted software like Norton 360. It mysteriously crashed the first week and I had to use the recovery system, losing a lot of work and files in the process. I guess I will keep it but I am disappointed with it.

Words cannot express the love I have for my new laptop. I finally got rid of my old cluncky desktop and this 17 inch laptop is the perfect substitute. Love the numbers keyboard to the right (great for working in spreadsheets). Windows Vista allows for multiple users so all my settings and preferences remain, even after others have used the laptop. I have an account for a guest and for my husband. There are not enough good things I can say. The screen size is great and it's surprisingly light weight. It's extremely fast very quite. I highly recommend it to anyone! Vista is very different, but I'm smart and after a few hours, I got the hang of it. You will too.

What a delightful experience! Excellent response, almost immediate. Great software and a lot of it. Only had to get an external mouse since the touch pad mouse was so sensitive the curser tended to wander. The new price made this a best buy. And the Amazon product description was complete and accurate.

Good: Price - bought it from Office Depot for $499. Fast enough, not for gamers, though. Very, very quiet. Easy to use, good memory and HD size, CPU for the price. Full size keypad. Outstanding quality of the screen. Excellent replacement for desktop.
Cons:	Weight, battery life, portable enough to move it @ home, however, not for frequent fliers.
Overall, strongly recommended for quality vs the price.
My computer crashed the first day I got it. It gets really hot, fast. I don't see that happening with the Dell or the HP laptops in this house.
I must agree with one reviewer who mentioned that Vista seems incompatable with this computer. I removed the heavy power draining virus program it came with and purchased ESET Node 32 which is a light fast and effective virus protection. I also purchased and installed RegCure registry cleaner seems to help, but still this is a troublesome product I would not buy again. For about the same price my daughter got a stay cool HP with built in video camera. The 17" would be nice if the computer didn't require an inconvenient cooling pad.

This laptop Is so great...blazing fast and you can play lots of games at decent performance...but some of the new games won't be that great specially at high resolution ( like Crysis for instance).....but the only problem that i find annoying is the smudgy dusty chassis.....fusion looks cool but if there's a lot of dust in the air you have to clean your laptop almost daily....and the price dropped 50 $ 2 daYS AFTER i bought it

final thoughts: great multitasking laptop for every day use and casual gaming... but for hardcore gamers u have to consider a higher laptop for some extra bucks

I do a variety of freelance video and photo work.
This laptop has the RAM and hard drive space to make it great for productions and editing on the go.
The firewire port is especially useful for hooking up a camcorder and recording directly to the laptop, or for transferring DV tapes from the camcorder to digital format.

The webcam and built in microphone are good for video-conferencing and impromptu video-blogging.

This computer is a great deal for the multi-media oriented buyer!

I'm a professional photographer and graphic designer. I run a several applicatiions at a time and process a lot of 21 megapixel images at once. This Toshiba does what I tell it to RIGHT NOW.

You don't know what you're buying into until you have to deal with customer service. I found that the wireless internet feature didn't work and with great trepidation phoned their customer service number. I got a real person I could understand and she worked towards the solution, but had to pass me along to a higher tech who patiently worked with me. He had me un-install some stuff (I'm not a techie) and re-install it again. This took time, and he asked if he could call me back when it was done. He phoned back moments after the process finished (he must've set a timer) and resolved the problem. Now I know I not only have a computer which thoroughly meets my needs, but that I have customer support if I need it.
